The Aligarh Muslim University has a reputation that speaks
for itself. Of the many courses that AMU offers, the AMU Schools are one of a
kind considering AMU is the only University in India that runs schools under
its wings and with such great management that the Candidates flood in to secure
seats way before the term starts. However, the University has very strict rules
and regulations regarding the Admissions. AMU commences Entrance Examinationsat three
levels for schools i.e.atClass 1, Class 6, and Class 9. For each level, the
admissions are secured through an Entrance Exam.
AMU conducts 3 Entrance Exams, one for each class, for Class
1, Class 6 and Class 9.
The Entrance Examination is conducted on two levels.
Level 1: Entrance Exam
Level 2: Interview
AMU has Entrance exams scheduled for all three entry level
classes on different dates. The exam paper pattern, syllabus, dates and time is

Class 1 Entrance Test
Exam Date: The AMU Entrance Exam for Class 1 is to be
conducted in March 2018 tentatively.
Exam Time: The exam will be two hours long and will commence
from 10:00 am in the morning.
Exam Syllabus: The candidates are advised to prepare English,
Arithmetic, Urdu and GK. The preparations must be done at class 1 level.
Exam Paper Description: The written test will be of 100
marks. There will be 25 subjective or objective questions. The Interview will
carry 25 marks.
NOTE: Only the candidates who get selected in the written
test will be forwarded for Interview. Also, the selection criteria says it is
compulsory for a candidate to obtain a minimum of 40% in the Interview to be
considered for selection.
Class 6 Admission Test
Exam Date: The class 6 Entrance Examis to be conducted in March 2018 tentatively.
Exam Time: The Exam will start from 10:00 am and will
continue for 2 hours.
Exam Syllabus: The class 5 syllabus stated by C.B.S.E. and
N.C.E.R.T. will be the source from where the questions in the Entrance Exam
will be put up.
Exam Paper Description: The written paper is of 100 marks. The
100 marks are distributed in two sections. The first section will hold 30
marks. It will contain 30 multiple choice questions. Each question will hold 1
mark and the questions will be based on English, Urdu and Hindi languages.
The second section will hold 70 marks and 70 questions of 1
mark each, 35 questions from Mathematics and 35 questions from Science.
NOTE: The candidates will have to get a minimum of 40% in
section 1. Only then will they be considered for the interview.
Class 9 Entrance Exam
Exam Date: The Exam for class 9 will be conducted in March 2018 tentatively.
Exam Time: The exam will be conducted for 2 hours, starting
from 10:00 am.
Exam Syllabus: The candidates should prepare as per the
C.B.S.E. or the N.C.E.R.T. syllabus for Class 8.
Exam Paper Description: There will be a 100 questions. The pattern
is same as it is for the Class 6 Entrance Exam. 30 questions will be for
Languages. (English, Hindi an Urdu) The rest 70 questions will be divided into
two sections, 35 for Mathematics and 35 for Science.
NOTE: the candidates must obtain a minimum of 40% in section
1 in the written test to be considered eligible for the interview.
